The hospital is run by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archeparchy of Kottayam and is registered as a charitable organisation. ==History== In 1962, Mar Thomas Tharayil, Bishop of Kottayam, in collaboration with the selected few benevolent German people (of the Caritas organisation) started the venture of health care naming it ''Carithas'' naming after the Catholic organisation Caritas International.
